The Crossing" is a visual narrative that explores the theme of transition, crafted in the genre of magical realism. In the artwork, a deer crosses water in a tranquil and confident manner, gracefully navigating atop underwater foliage and a reflection of itself. The sculpture engages with various dimensions of space; the different perspectives—above the water, below the water, and the reflections on the surface—provide viewers with insights not only into the narrative but also into the nature of sculpture itself. The piece is made from silicon bronze, enhanced with several patinas. The surface of the water is polished to create a mirror-like reflection, contrasting with the rougher textures below to emphasize the fluid nature of the subject matter.
